How a sale works

A straightforward process designed to protect both the buyer and the seller. No marketplace middleman is required.

1. Reach an agreement

Use the offer form on the home page to say which domain you want and what you would like to pay. Asking prices are a starting point. Reasonable offers are welcome. If we agree on price and timing, we move to escrow.

2. Open an Escrow.com transaction

The sale is completed through Escrow.com. Escrow.com holds the buyer’s payment until the domain transfer is confirmed. The Escrow.com fee is about 2.6 percent with a $50 minimum. The buyer can pay that fee. You do not send payment directly to the seller.

3. Transfer the domain

After Escrow.com confirms the funds, the domain is transferred. Depending on where you want to hold it, that may be a GoDaddy account push or an auth-code transfer to another registrar. Once you confirm receipt, Escrow.com releases payment to the seller.

What you receive

  • The domain name registration for the name you purchased
  • Control at your chosen registrar after transfer

You do not receive a website, email service, hosting, logos, or other brand assets. How you use the name after purchase is your responsibility.
